Serpent Season One is the debut album from Hydra Fashion Week.
On their debut full-length release, the group engage in some epic world-building, inviting you into the “hydra extended universe” for a new serpent season.
The group stretch out on their original jazzy post-punk sound, to include inspirations from the worlds of hyper-pop, folk-rock, and drum&bass. The result is a heady mix between tight catchy songwriting and longer avant-garde explorations. Something they call “hyper-punk”.
Lead songwriter Hydras Heads explores themes of authorship, digital dualism and identity in a world that is heavy with mythical symbolism, and characters from the past and future.
On Serpent Season One, guitarist Matt Roche gets the space to flex his highly-trained improvised jazz muscle. Weaving some stupefying and gnarly guitar lines throughout. Whilst drummer Emily Chen and Bassist Jasper Evans keep tight rhythms and mutant grooves that will themselves occasionally open up and fall apart to inspired chaos.
